A BULAWAYO family is seeking US$15 000 required for their 15-year-old son to undergo cancer treatment in India.

The boy developed cancer last year which started on his leg and has since spread to his lungs.
One of his legs has since been amputated.

The boy’s mother, Ms Taboka Dube, said doctors told her that her son should urgently undergo cancer treatment in India and $15 000 is needed to meet both travel and treatment expenses.

“I am a single mother and teacher who is struggling to make ends meet. I therefore cannot afford to pay for his treatment anymore. He needs to go to India in the next two months and I appeal to the community to assist my son who is in great pain,” she said.

Ms Dube said her son has been receiving chemotherapy for a while but now he is no longer responding to treatment.

The teenager has not been able to attend school since January due to the illness. He completed his Form One last year.

“It pains me to see my son suffer so much. He loved his books and had big dreams about his future.

“The chemotherapy treatment has been taking a strain on him and he often gets frustrated,” said Ms Dube.
